I’m about to reveal two things Sven and I said we would never publicly admit:
1. We have our own secret holiday called Honeybears in Love Day. It’s the anniversary of the day we first met, because we recall that moment more than when we decided to make it “official.” It’s on March 24, and this year we celebrated our 12th Honeybears in Love Day! For my Swedish friends, sometimes I call Sven Honungsbjörn 😬. ( Also, our wireless network is called HoneybearsinLove.)
2. These photos, of many taken in Vietnam only two weeks after we had first met in Thailand. We were the only tourists visiting this waterfall near Dalat, and a Vietnamese woman tapped us on the shoulder and started trying to take our clothes off. She pointed to a basket full of costumes and though she spoke no English, we figured out that she was trying to get us to dress up. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but we were game. She spent an hour very meticululously posing us into all sorts of ridiculous scenes. And in the end she asked us for $3. We vowed never to show these photos to anyone, ever, but after 12 years, I guess the jig is up.
Here’s our photographer in action:
And a “before” photo for good measure:
Happy 12th Honeybears in Love Day from our home to yours!
